We booked a table online, but arrived half an hour early. It was very busy when we got there, so we were worried that we may have to come back nearer the time. We needn't have worried. The staff were welcoming and friendly and said that our table had just become available, so we were able to sit down early. The food was excellent. The fish and chips were perfect. The wild mushroom tagliatelle was great, too. According to my wife, the pannacotta with honeycomb was delicious. I had locally made gelato, which was lovely, too. Despite being busy, all the staff were relaxed, and nothing felt rushed. The atmosphere was slightly loud at times, but this was simply because lots of people were having a good time. We will definitely come back when we are in this area again. ~ Adrian H
I was staying in the village with my family and as we didn't want to cook, nor did we wish to venture out on a wet night we decided to stay in and have a take away. The menu was just what anyone would need and we had fish and chips and burger and chips. The fish was moist and succulent in Tribute batter and the burger was a big proper beef burger. We struggled to eat it all but we did just manage it. It is a little pricey compared with a proper take away but this is cooked from a pub and the only one in the village so can demand the price. I have no trouble in recommending this take away again and when we next come down to stay in this village we will use this place again without hesitation. ~ Emma K
An absolutely fantastic traditional pub in Cornwall! From the moment we walked in, we were met with a warm and friendly welcome that made us feel right at home. The location couldn’t be better—just a quick 20-second stroll from the beach, making it the perfect spot to relax after a seaside walk. The food was outstanding—beautifully presented, full of flavour, and clearly made with top-quality ingredients. Every dish we tried was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. It’s rare to find a pub that combines such genuine hospitality with exceptional food, but this one truly delivers. I would highly recommend stopping by for a meal or even just a drink. A wonderful place that captures the best of Cornish charm! ~ Andrew T
Second time we have visited this wonderful village pub in a 12 month period . We ate two evenings on the trot, Sunday evening had a lovely Chicken and stuffing roast dinner and plenty of it. Second evening had Steak and chips with garlic butter. The Steak was perfect and tender cooked to perfection. Lovely and welcoming staff and dog friendly. This place will regular dining when we next visit. Update 10th February 2026. Probably the forth time we have visited on successive nights, under new management but the food is still fabulous 👌 and good value for money, always busy. Nice to see Lisa again on front of house who is always warm and welcoming 🙏. Fabulous pub 5* ~ Simon C
Just back from a weekend in Portscatho and visited the Plume of Feathers pretty much every day for food and drinks. One evening we had takeaway. The pub itself is lovely, traditional and cozy. The owners and staff are all very welcoming, friendly and accommodating as is Walter, their resident Bassett Hound. They all love dogs and were so good with our three Golden Retrievers. The food we had was all excellent. They do traditional pub food plus some alternatives to pub grub so there is a good variety. Overall we would highly recommend the Plume of Feathers and will be back when we visit Cornwall again in September. Thank you. Jacqui, Roger and our three Goldies. ~ Jacqui L
We ate with you twice in a three day visit, once was not enough! Absolutely love the pub, such a warm welcome, really "buzzy" feel about the place with a genuine interest in the customers. Pub food, as you would expect, but there is pub food and pub food and this is exceptional pub food! My partner is vegetarian and is incredibly hard to please, she though the food was fantastic. Really well thought out menu's and epic food to back it up - what an employee Lisa is, its rare you come across people like Lisa, really genuine and nice human being! Also the bloke lacking in hair was a bloody nice fella as well, as was the landlady on Sunday! ~ Bill P
Worth the long drive! Caught the King Harry Ferry followed by a beautiful walk along the coast path from Porthcurnick Beach, leading us straight to this proper Cornish pub. The pub itself was full of character with traditional beams, cosy alcoves, roaring fire and a stunning view from our table in the upstairs window. Lunch was excellent and we left feeling very full! The mussels were some of the best we’ve had, and the crispy salmon fishcake with homemade tartare sauce was delicious. Great to see they serve breakfast too - will be back for sure! ~ Holly J
What a lovely and well run pub/restaurant this is. Spent a week in Portscatho which is stunning, and this pub is part of the heart and soul of the place. Very warm welcome from Roger and his team. Lovely food at reasonable prices, (best fish and chips i have eaten!!) lovely beers, great social distancing in place. My only regret is not pre booking more evenings but the takeaways were excellent Too, thanks Roger and the team, we will be back next year for sure, only 5 stars available, they deserve more!! PRE BOOK!!!!! YOU WONT BE DISSAPOINTED!!!!! ~ Kevin F
Great food, great service. Little bit pricey on the beers. Food was great too. Handy tip for people. If you eat outside then every dish is about 6 quid cheaper. You get it served in takeaway style boxes. But to save 6 quid on burger and chips that doesn't fuss me at all. Oh and the roast dinner is 100%! I couldn't of done it better myself and I am fussy when it comes to a roast dinner....maybe the carrots and parsnips could of had a little crispiness to them but that's just personal preference perhaps 😂 ~ Dan S
More than just your usual pub grub... We were staying local and after arriving from a 9 hour journey just wanted something close and easy to eat. Well if you can get a table (it is a popular venue) the food is amazing! There is the regular menu, however the daily special menu is well... Special. Both nights we've been (yes we went back again the night after!) the food has been to die for. A healthy selection of drinks from behind the bar and a very welcoming if not busy front of house staff team! Definitely a hidden gem well worth the trip! ~ Tom “
Having visited on a very hot day in June, we returned, this time with parents in tow. The food was all excellent. The mushroom soup was thick and shroomy and mackerel with orange and fennel salad was super-fresh. The beef sandwich was a generous serving of well cooked quality meat served with fab, crispy chips and the mackerel pate, which was so good in June I risked reprising it, was every bit as good as I remembered. Staff were very welcoming and were very tolerant of a slightly less than perfectly behaved puppy. Totally recommended. ~ Mike W
I cannot rate this lovely place more highly. Came here at Christmas time and the person I emailed in advance was so friendly and accommodating. We were met with the same welcome in person, the staff are doing a great job. Delicious food, cosy atmosphere, clean, stylish and comfortable. Came back in January for lunch with my husband and it was too notch again. Thank you! ✨ Not an easy time for this industry at the moment and you are doing it so well. ~ Lizzie D
We called into Plume Of Feather one early evening, the area was totally new to us, but not for long, we had recommendations on what to do tomorrow, how to use the bus service and we were made so welcome, it was fantastic. So much so that we then booked a table and enjoyed some seriously good mussels! This pub is as a pub should be, all the staff were really helpful and so friendly, the food was really good and the beers were very well kept. Thank you to all at Plume Of Feathers. ~ Chris C
Excellent! Was in Portscatho visiting my partners Granny. In our last evening in this gorgeous little slice of Cornwall we walked down for a few pints at the Plume... after all we had read the "famous reviews article" and were secretly desperate to see the place for ourselves. We didn't eat so couldn't comment on that, however we really enjoyed an amazing atmosphere at a super dog friendly pub. It's an absolute gem. Couldn't recommend it enough for a relaxing evening. ~ Michael R
Just returned from a two night break at the Plume. Enjoyed every about the place especially the staff, informal and friendly. We had a problem with hot water on both days after the builder had switched off a pump which the staff had no knowledge off at the time. The management made an over generous discount off the bill. It was much appreciated and has ensured that we will return in the near future. Thanks to all the staff for their genuine care and hospitality. ~ Tony C
I rang up as a total stranger from 250 miles away trying to trace someone who was local 30 years ago and although Calum and Mandy the licensees had only been there 3yrs they immediately offered to help via Facebook which is something I am totally unfamiliar with. Within 48hrs the people I was looking for had been found. I just want to say thank you publicly to a very kind and generous couple for their help and one day I do hope to call in and I hope you do to. John Chambers ~ John C
Friendly, honest service. Great beer and tasty food. A notice at the door suggests they've had problems with visitors getting impatient, not booking mealtimes or, after booking, turning up at any old time. I don't know anywhere post-Covid and post-Brexit where this is possible. We turned up for a drink and a snack, were served promptly for both, after asking if we could be fitted in, and can speak highly of everything. ~ Trevor W
Lovely quaint village pub serving up St Austell beers and traditional grub. Nice mix of local villagers and visitors. Superb location just a few steps from the sea. Rooms are great, classic but with modern amenities. Only very slight gripe is that the access to the rooms at ground floor hall level and the breakfast room need some upgrade / decorating, both feel out of kilter with the quality of the rooms. ~ John
Spent a week in Portscatho and went to the Plume of Feathers every day we were there either for food or just for drinks. The bar is well stocked with a good selection of beer. The staff are friendly and accommodating. I would recommend booking a table for food or be willing to wait for one but that is only because the pub is busy due to the high standard of food which accompanies the service that the staff offer. ~ Iain W
We came across this pub after walking the coastal path. Whilst enjoying a drink, we noticed how nice the food looked that was being served. We were able to book a table for later and we were not disappointed. The upstairs room where we were seated was light and airy, with a lovely sea view. Service was efficient and friendly and the food was absolutely delicious! It made for a perfect end to a lovely day. ~ Kim J
We just come from portcatho for a week holiday but gave been there before and it's still beautiful. We always go into the plume of feathers has it has very good food and very welcoming atmosphere. Staff are amazing cant di enough for you . It was my husbands niece birthday and the manger helped with some tables that were near together has covid rules and a beautiful birthday cake. Thank you so much and see you 3 weeks x ~ Ceri p
Had an excellent meal here on our long weekend stay in St. Anthony in Roseland. Surprisingly busy, we booked a table on their website and the tiny pub was heaving, obviously very popular! It didn't effect the level of service though - the staff are super friendly and efficient. Cosy, welcoming atmosphere and great food - much of it locally sourced - definitely on my list of eateries when I'm in the area again. ~ Xanthe S
Lovely pub in the small village of Portscatho. Interior is warm, cozy and inviting. The food was delicious, we had ham, egg and chips after a starter of squid. The chips were cooked perfectly and locally sourced was more-ish. We both had drinks and the total price came to £85 which, sadly, appears to be the norm for pub grub these days. I would recommend to anyone as the food and service was wonderful. The price not so. ~ Sarah C
Had a spot of lunch here. Once outside and once inside. Both meals and service were exceptional. I had a special of pork belly chiabata and fries. I have to say the half a pig on a butty with camembert was amazing. The portion was good value for the £15. I didn't eat for the rest of the day which is unheard of for me. Took both our dogs and a cat inside. Made very welcome by all staff. Can't rate highly enough. Will be returning. ~ Saxon 9
